I have a sofa frame that is 69" wide. I want to replace the cushions with a futon so it will have more padding and I can have something for guests to sleep on.
But it seems that all futons sold in the US are 75" wide. Do they make them in any other size?
Will be I left with trying to use brute strength to force the futon into the frame?
You might be up against standard bedding sizes here.
39" wide x 75" long
Twin Extra Long Mattress Size 39" wide x 80" long
Full Mattress Size 54" wide x 75" long
Full Extra Long Mattress 54" wide x 80" long
Queen Mattress Size 60" wide x 80" long
Queen Split Mattress 60" wide x 80" long
Two 30" x 80"
King Mattress Size 76" wide x 80" long
King Split Mattress 78" wide x 80" long
Two Twin Extra Long beds together
California/Western King Mattress 72" wide x 84" long
Are you measuring the inside width or the total width of the futon? The inside width should probably match some popular bedding size. Aren’t most futons full size or queen size equivalents?
You can easily have foam cut to whatever size you need in whatever firmness you want. Contact a foam shop or upholstery shop and tell them what you need. It should be very easy for them to do. Or, depending on what your futon is made of (I have a very expensive one that has springs inside, although most of them are just padding) I’d bet they can cut it down to fit your frame and resew it up all nice and neat.
