Are cable news channels exempt from "Truth in Advertising"?

Specifically Fox News Channel.
“Fair and Balanced” Yeah, right.
FNC fans: This is an inside joke, right?
Peace,
mangeorge

Very funny, but I think you’re operating on a flawed understanding of truth in advertising here. As I understand it, “truth” in advertising basically means you can bend the truth all you want, as long as it can be construed as an opinion and not a statement of fact.

For example, a cookie company couldn’t say, “Medical research proves our cookies cure cancer!” but they can say, “Our cookies are better than everyone else’s!”

By the same toke, FNC can call themselves “Fair and Balanced” when this clearly isn’t true, but they can’t say, “Watching other news networks causes fatal siezures.”

You understanding how this works now?

I don’t think he cared.

Neither do I.

I care! I just stepped out to get a bite to eat, fer cryin’ out loud.
There’s no such thing as “bend the truth”.
I know an oxymoron when I see one.
