The Blue Man Group released their album Audio in both CD and DVD formats. They empthasize that the DVD has no visual component – it’s just to get the better sound. I opted for the CD so I could play it in the car.

Don’t ask me. I listen to vinyl when I’m not in the car. (Of course, I can GET vinyl for 25 cents an album. If CDs become obsolete and the price drops accordingly, I say “Hooray!”)
the DVD-A and SACD will probably remain niche forever. they will probably coexist with CD for a long time until something else comes up.
most people do not give a rat’s ass about quality difference between CD and DVD-A. i DO and i am still not going to bother buying all the extra speakers and a multichannel amp, not yet at least.
