Hi everyone,
This is my first post… long-time reader… first time poster!
Recently I’ve read some articles and have seen some reports on TV about chiropractors. According to the reports, some people have suffered strokes as a result of chiropractic adjustments. Apparently there is a danger when it comes to the twisting of the neck. Many in the medical profession would have us beleive that going to a chiropractor is like russian roulette. Of course, the chiros say it’s all nonsense and that the medical community have caused more strokes through improper use of medication.
Has anyone here heard of this? What do you think the “real” risks are?
I’ve been going to a chiropractor for about five years and have always felt safe. For the record though, he never “twists” my neck; he does what he calls the crane (sp?) technique, where he turns my head to one side and then pulls the head upwards. He also does some adjustments to my back.
I’m interested in what you folks think. My opinion is that it’s safe.
Chiropractors are safe, so long as you do not entrust your health care to them.
Seriously, at best they don’t provide anything you can’t get cheaper at a Licensed Massage Therapist. At worst, they are dangerous quacks, who will keep you from seeking vitally needed help. Some of these clowns even claim their stupid backrubs can cure cancer.
They are all the more dangerous, because they actually believe in their own nonsense. This can fool the impressionable, due to the convictions they have in their worthless treatment techniques.
Are you ill? If not, why are you getting regular treatments?
If he’s so damn good, why is it taking 5 years?
Dump this goof, & see a regular M.D. Now. The life you save could be your own.
I originally started to go because of lower back pain. Once that cleared up, I’ve been going monthly for a couple of reasons:
-
Using the PC and mouse at work stiffens up my right shoulder blade.
-
My family has a history of getting hunched backs due to poor posture.
-
I find that I feel better after the adjustments.
Try the Liscened Massage Therapist. Just once. He or she can help you with all of this. Cheaper, too.
