This may seem like a kinda stupid question. I’m on a not-overly-strict diet-and-exercise regimen. But I’m positively addicted to Fresca. In a pinch, I’ll go diet Sprite or diet 7-up.
Seriously, I must drink like 4 Frescas a day.
These three sodas are zero-cal, zero-carb, zero-fat (and relatively zero-taste). But I keep hearing things about how bad soda is for you.
So…is it hurting my diet? And is it hurting my health?
The have to make it sweet somehow, (though calling a diet soda sweet is a bit of a stretch). As after a decade or so you end up finding most of these sweeteners cause cancer, I think I will stick to sugar. Can’t speak as to the dietary aspects.
Bottom line: unless you’re heavily ODing on the drinks, you shouldn’t have any ill health effects.
So far as affecting your diet, there’s some belief that diet drinks make a person feel hungry. It never made me feel that way, but peoples is different. If you eat something, though, it’s not the diet drink causing you to gain weight.
(Coming from someone who used to down four liters of diet soda per day, now down to 1½.)
I tried switching from Coke to Diet Coke a few years ago. The whole lower half of my body swelled up like Meadow Soprano’s ass. So much for drinking healthy, I guess.
