Are EDENpure Heaters Any Good?

I live in a condo (on the coast in Maine) that was built in 1989 for seasonal (i.e., spring-summer-fall) use only. There are two propane heaters, which we used last winter to keep the place “warm.” I sat literally inches next to one all last winter – blankets also occasionally used – to keep warm.

The propane bills, of course, are sky-high.

There’s a full-page ad in the newspaper today about the EdenPURE Heaters. Would it be a good investment to get one of these, to supplement the existing heat from the propane heaters?

We may or may not have the funds to purchase double- or triple-cell insulating blinds to cover the enormous, beautiful windows.

Warm me up, please!

They are just over-priced electric space heaters, not any more or less efficient than any other electric space heater. If you look them up on Amazon, you can see that there are more highly rated space heaters for much lower prices.

Electricity is generally the most expensive way to heat your house. You need to figure out how much your are paying per BTU for Propane, and then compare that to your price per KWH for electricity (1 btu = 0.00029307107 kilowatt hours).

no experience with that product. full page ads with catchy brand names are usually over priced, sometimes poor quality and sometimes a short lived company.

for supplemental heating an electric heater with a fan is expensive. much better is a radiant quartz ceramic heater without a fan. lots of these heaters say they are quartz heaters but they try to heat air. a radiant heater has no fan and you much be within a few feet of it (less than 6 feet), these are great for where you are staying put. you turn the dial to a spot where you feel warm, it does not have to heat the room.

I’ve been very pleased with the Soleus Micathermic for radiant heating.

You should also consider a heated mattress pad. They’re much better than electric blankets, and really help keep you warm when you sleep.
