The ash is moving SE away from Iceland. Are flights to/from Reykjavik also halted? If so, there must be lots of travelers stranded. The only option may be to take the ferry to the Faroe islands.
Based on a news report seen yesterday (no link), flights between Iceland and USA/Canada are still operating, but not to Europe or other points east.
And then what? The Faroe Islands are in the direct path of the volcanic debris.

And then an onward ferry to the UK or the European mainland. Ferries are not affected by the volcanic debris.
