Probably the greatest danger from glowsticks is the broken glass vial one finds inside an activated glowstick.
I remember a story of a schoolmate who decided to dump the contents of a glowstick into his mouth for shock value, and was not expecting the teaspoon of glass shards he got along with the glowing fluid.

Our city puts on a festival each year & for dozens of years they used candles in paper lanterns with a perfect success rate. Someone figured that might not be too safe someday so they changed to glow sticks which put out a pathetic amount of light. This year they used flashlights, so I didn’t get to protest their use of glowsticks.
