While growing up, we had lots of kittens, and they, being kittens, scratched us a lot. I have scars on nine out of ten fingers from those little guys. Eventually they grew up, and we got all the cats fixed, and there were no more kittens and no more scars. I’ve been scratched by cats too, of course, but those scratches didn’t scar. However, it looks like the scratch I got Halloween night from a friend’s kitten is going to scar too.
So, is there a reason that these kitten scratches have left me with scars where as scratches from cats (like the scratches from my cat three weeks ago that have healed) don’t scar? Do kitten claws get dirtier, perhaps due to them not being as in control of retacting their claws as their grown fellows?
