Are KOA's quiet?

Most KOAs have “quiet time” rules but few in my experience enforce them. If at all possible I find state parks to be a better bet even if the park isn’t the reason I’m there.

What does it cost to pitch a tent at one of these sites?

I use the waxy moldable plugs that just seal over the outside of your ear canal so they don’t irritate your ears available at Walmart or Walgreens etc. I am a light sleeper and have found that the plugs deaden the noise enough that it doesn’t disturb me unless it is very loud noises or someone calling my name.

I often camp with a large groups of people some of which like to play music until all hours. I would be hurting people if I didn’t have my ear plugs.

The one I checked was around $40 but I don’t know if that is above or below average. If so then it provides around the same value for money as the other upgraded camping site I’ve stayed at, in Mesa Verde, which had coin laundry, free showers, a cheap pancake breakfast, and a mini-store abutting the campground – okay, at a KOA it might be a set of vending machines and a pool, but it is a step above just a pit toilet.

Except of course for the noise.
