Are my Medication OK......?

My Morning routine is to drop a couple slices of bread into the toaster and then take my B/P meds and a couple others along with a low dose aspirin. By then my toast is ready for butter. I enjoy a dark toasting and if its charred all the better!!
Is this charcoal(ing) doing anything to the Meds i just took??

Not knowing your meds, all we can advise you to do is check with your pharmacist. My thyroid medication clearly says not only to take on an empty stomach, but to wait before I eat anything.

The question would seem to be - would the charred bread act like an activated charcoal and adsorb some the the medication, rendering it useless?

I suspect the answer is no, but it is an interesting question, and one I would hesitate guess an answer to. These things can be surprising.

(Pharmacist here) Any effect would probably be minimal. The charcoal that’s used to treat poison is activated charcoal, which has been micropulverized to increase its surface area.

Activated charcoal will turn your stools black. If your morning toast doesn’t do that, then I wouldn’t worry about it. Whether a med should be taken with or without food, or it doesn’t matter, is a bigger issue. Chances are, you’re fine.

Medical advice is best suited to IMHO.

Yes i was thinking of what activated charcoal is used for.
Thank you for the explanation about “activated” Charcoal, My toaster setting is getting set to >Darker>>>

And the meds are Amiodipine and Metoprolol.

Thank You!!

On the other hand, eating blackened toast might not be the healthiest thing you can do:
