Yep- You’ll notice that the products advertised stick in the professional services and luxury vehicles arena for golf, while nascar decals trumpet mostly widely-available consumer products and the ads are more middle-class. Golf has the added “escapist” feeling and gentle production values, they are going for the audience that might shit the hepplewhite chaise if a NASCAR race came on the plasma.
I have seen and enjoyed NASCAR races, but like hockey, I don’t think it plays well on TV. The NFL has done such a good job of making the game TV-friendly that it dominates the conversation. The NFL on TV is preferable to live at this point- there’s no other sport I’d say that about.
It’s probably not irrelevant that fantasy football is much more accessible and enjoyable for armchair athletes than other fantasy sports- that increases regular peoples’ stake in NFL games.
