For phones that have three or more lens, are there any good phone apps that actually allow you to take 3D pictures (not 360 degree pictures, but actual 3D), preferably for Android phones?
Even if it were physically possible on a hardware level for the phone to take two photos at once (and for most phones, it probably isn’t–the chips aren’t designed in mind) the lenses/sensors aren’t matched pairs and the paralax is very small. But there is at least one app that lets you take two photos (moving the camera in between) and make 3D images from those.
For whatever reason, apps like that seem to have short lifespans. Find one you like, and then a few years later, it ceases to be supported. You might be better off taking pictures normally, loading them onto a computer, and then processing them into 3D on the computer, but even there, your options are limited.
At least, if your intended output is a 3D model. If you’re just looking for image pairs that you can view through a stereoscope, or through red-blue glasses, then you can fairly easily do those manually in nearly any image editing program.
But yeah, no matter how you do it, you’re going to have to move the camera. Those lenses are just too close together to get any sort of useful parallax.
IANAPhotographer but I’ve messed around with PopPic, a “3-D camera app”. It is pretty cool, but I do not know if an android app is available (I have an iPhone).
Or you could use a ton of iPhones — still OP, right? — set them up in a circle with adjoining fields of views, and wire them to go boom simultaneously.
And then invite Keanu Reeves to fight with you to test it.
IIRC if you want decent output you take Lidar as well as a stereo camera image and combine everything. So the question is whether your phone has all that hardware.
You can turn your phone into a 3d scanner. I only know about its use in obtaining stereolithography, but presumably you can make it work somehow. Cheap homemade example, you can buy a better one. It uses either software: Autodesk Recap Photo or 3DF Zephyr (free).
