Are there any cars with keypad access as a manufacturer option? Keypad cars been tried and flopped?

I was replying to Riemann about the car automatically unlocking simply by walking next to it. I did not make any comparison to keypads.

Zombie thread, but Ford keypad technology isn’t dead!

I love mine, except I also have the “Intelligent Access” which means I can’t lock the keys in the car, which is my main use case (leave them in the car while cycling or hiking or canoeing, so I won’t lose them).

It’s great for getting access to the inside of the car or truck when I’m in the driveway without keys.

It’s great for getting access to the inside of the truck even when I have the key, and don’t want to have to remove it from my pocket.

If you have a Ford outfitted with automatic locks/key fob, you can add an accessory keypad to the vehicle.

I just leave the car keys on top of my wallet when I get home and empty my pockets. That way I know where they are, and I can’t leave the house without both wallet and keys.
