Are there any economic thinkers you like to follow

I’m not really looking for highly detailed 400 page academic books. I am more wondering what economic thinkers you’ve found insightful who write articles or make short videos. Basically just a way to keep up to date about whats going on in the world.

I used to like Paul Krugman but I worry his politics is affecting his credibility. I thought he said inflation was transitory, but it doesn’t seem to be for example.

Michael Burry was good, but I’m wondering about his judgment based on some of his recent tweets. Also some of his predictions seem like they came true just due to dumb luck.

Theres a couple who post videos who I like. They are non-partisan and informational. But if other people have some I’d like to hear them.

I’m not looking to outsmart the market because I know I’m not capable of that. I just dump my money into index funds and long term growth stocks as far as investments go. I’m more looking for someone who can explain whats happening and what could possibly happen with the economy.

I’ve been reading marginalrevolution.com for years. Tyler Cowen and Alex Tabarrok. A mix of links to interesting thoughts in the general economic space and short essays and excerpts from Cowen’s articles for Bloomberg (I don’t have a Bloomberg subscription so I just read the excerpts).

Another vote for marginal revolution. Also, I’d add the website: Naked Capitalism for their non-partisan coverage and (imo) willingness to cover some of the history behind many events.

For videos, I think the Economics Explained channel is pretty good.

Krugman is pretty good. I was an econ major in college, and worked tangentially with economists for several years at UBS Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Richard D. Wolff. Michael Hudson. Lots of economics at The Dig and Behind the News, though these podcasts are not solely about economics. Warning: these are all left wing sites.
