You’re asking what rational explanation there is for prejudice against short people? Since when does rationality have anything to do with anything?
I said that because the ex and always left the kiddies in the trunk (of the car) while we dined out.
But then the server wouldn’t have said “and 1/2”. Okay, I give up. Shudda said “with our kiddies”.
There certainly are more clear ways to ask but I always interpreted the “Two and a half?” questions as asking if a high chair was needed. If you say yes they bring the special chair, if you respond with “No, three” they assume the child prefers a normal chair.
