No. There are a few rednecks floating around, but they have enough sense to keep quiet or we’d eyeroll them right out of town.
One of my co-workers said he’d heard some people were flying the Confederate flag in downtown Asheville last night, but it could be just a rumor.
I will point out that Asheville is the home of the real-life Clayton Bigsby.*
*The black white supremacist from The Chappelle Show for those who don’t know.
In Webster Groves MO yesterday saw two big-ass late model pickup trucks parallel parked with the biggest damned Confed flags I have ever seen sticking up behind the driver’s doors.
Don’t know if they live there or were visiting. Going by that way in a little while and am interested if they are still there.
Thank Og, no. But Washington State is not a place where you expect to see that Traitor’s Flag much, not even in the central and eastern, or rural, parts of the state.
ETA: the rainbow flag is pretty common, though.
I’m in Texas. I’ve seen a few, but no more than usual.
In California? Hardly. But wasnt there a PIT thread a little while ago where a Southern poster tried to claim that the South wasnt unique in it’s racism?
Not that there isnt racism everywhere*, but the South is unique in how it glorifies it and how many bigots are openly racist.
- altho of course, no where near as much when I was a kid in the 50’s.
CA does have a couple big recreation battles, like at Ft Tejon. But of course the battle flag during a recreation is OK.
Racism. Hate. Bigotry.
You left out “glorying in ignorance”.
I haven’t seen any recently in the Sacramento/Roseville area, even though this area is a hotbed of redneckery.
You’re right.:smack:
No rebel activity in Albuquerque so far. I’ve seen decals in pickup windows once in a great while, but it’s been a few years since I even saw that.
Does anyone in this thread agree with this?
Has anyone in this thread actually gone out and got in the face of and removed the flag from anyone not you related to you that you know you can push around?
Anyone in this thread who has a father or mother or MIL or FIL that flew one until you got in their face and called them a traitor and forcibly removed it?
Please give verifiable details of your proud defense of the US of A.
Anyone in this thread put their money where their mouth is and moved out of the states considered South in this thread?
Will you refuse to do business with anyone who still lives in the South and has a Rebel flag unless they shit on and post it on the big three internet social sites?
Will you call all relatives that have a rebel flag a traitor at the next Christmas gathering?
I believe this thread is so full of bull shit & is stuffed full of what is so wrong with people in general and … Aw hell, you all make me want to spit.
Yeah, you all have the ‘high road’… ( can’t even come close with all this hot air as there will never be enough of it to even get you out of the low road bar ditch. )
Yes, curse these people for commenting on whether or not they see confederate flags in their neighborhoods! Verily the observant shall be cast down to trapped in flaming tombs in the Sixth Circle of Hell with the rest of the heretics!
Well, I booed some rebel recreationists who were in a local 4th of July parade. I didn’t get in their faces because they were better armed than I.
Well, dropdad moved us for me, but I was ten. He didn’t like all the racism and shit. The locals didn’t like him because he was a Yankee, with Yankee attitudes. It was best all around that we left.
If I know it? Yep. Plenty of other vendors out there.
I would, but it would be more like a Russian flag and pro-Putin comments. Except it wouldn’t happen because we have learned to avoid certain topics, rather than troll the dinner table or the neighborhood. Like adults.
Post # 21 although I didn’t make him remove it. It’s a free country, I’m not going to remove anyone’s anything.
I don’t even understand this. I’m not even sure if this area is considered “south,” but if it is, I can’t exactly move, nor would I.
How would someone know if someone they do business with has a rebel flag?
When I visit Virginia to go fishing or hiking, I make a point not to shop anywhere that displays a confederate flag. It’s not uncommon to see them in front of restaurants or shops in rural Virginia.
They did a single protest, but then it was over. But I’m here in the part of Arkansas that didn’t really go with the Confederacy. Too many hills for slavery to be profitable, and too out of the way for the war to really affect us.
If we’d have had more people, and Little Rock wasn’t captured as fast as it was, we might have gotten a North Arkansas the way we got a West Virginia.
Edit: There were some pretty racist comments on local news article on the protest, though.
Albert Lea Firefighter There are many more links.
And I misremembered the business one – it was a NAPA Auto Parts store parade unit.
I drove through Sevierville this weekend and can tell you the Confederate flag is alive and well. Lots of pickups were flying them and some of the tattoo parlors were offering 50% off confederate flag tattoos.
