Are there cooties in my bathwater?

Dangerous (can’t remember the damn word) bacteria, that is. I know there are coliform bacteria and such, but I’m supposed to be immune. I ask because I was discussing with a cow-orker whether or not it’s neccessary, or even beneficial, to rinse off with the shower after a bath. I say no, it’s a waste of water, she says there are icky bugs all over me.
I ask this question here, in GQ, in hopes of getting a knowledgable answer and not just preference or opinion.
Peace,

Yes, there are cooties in your bathwater. Only yours, however.

What dangerous bacteria would there be in a bath that you don’t bring in with you? A cold, dry porcelin and iron clawfoot isn’t exactly a good breeding ground for human pathogens. And if you bring them in, why wouldn’t the water in the tub dilute them to a lower concentration before you climb out?
Hot tubs are a different matter.

Cool.

That’s pretty much what I said to her. But you know how some people are about their nasty bits.
Odd thing is, she and her lover have a hot tub, and they have friends over. I’m not going to show her that article you linked. Maybe I should. She’s an old, and dear, friend.
