Depends how elaborate the scheme is. If you’ve seen where he lives, met his family, and spent some time with him outside of school, I would think you’d be able to figure out whether he’s a real student or a phony. Anyone who would sell drugs to someone he doesn’t even know is just asking to get caught.
They had them at my high school over twenty years ago. There were a couple of them and they made a couple of busts but nothing major.

Would a narc be allowed to take drugs so as to not blow his cover? What if you only offered to sell him weed if you first saw him smoke some first?
I don’t know if using drugs will prove he isn’t a narc, but it’ll sure prove he isn’t a shapeshifting alien trying to take over your school.
