Good catch! I didn’t notice it, but I would also have identified it by the backlight and bumper. 
It’s a '74 Super Beetle so it turns 50 next year.
I have never kicked it either. 
I don’t kick tires, but I have put a foot on them and leaned on it to kind of informally check the pressure. This is more when I am already thinking it is low on air pressure. But now my car tells me. And my father in law bought us an air compressor. So my husband fills the air.
My father was a poor father in many ways but when it came to car maintenance he was not. He told me I may never have a man to help me, so it was better I learn
