After looking at a old thread: https://boards.straightdope.com/t/whats-the-deal-with-womens-clothing-sizes/
I have to ask that the woman’s sizing system comes close to that of children’s clothes in their numbering sizing system. Yes I know that children’s sizing is suppose to be related to the age of the child, something I found out late in life. But it seems more then coincidental that woman’s sizes repeat this range, while men’s sizes goes to standardized measurements (plus a feel good factor to reduce the numbers).
sarcastically speaking here>'But I do realize in every human society we have always valued men and women equally ever since God hatched the Adam and Eve egg , I have to ask does the woman’s sizing system somehow also diminish women, and their ability to understand measurements, to the level of children, not as advanced as men to graduate to a adult standard, and just easier for them to understand? After all it is better to have them think of their size in terms of a child’s age instead of an adult standard. Perhaps that’s too complicated for them? And is this how it all started in their sizing, by considering women just bigger children.</sarcastically speaking here>
I do wonder if there is some psychological factor here that the sizing will influence perception.
Or is it perhaps manufactures playing on the youth card as a selling point.
