Are you a member or a customer of the SDMB? An informal poll

Having done the maths, I reckon SD is ‘not for profit’, so I regard myself as a member

  • also that is what turns up under my tag

Only if you can drink from the cup using either hand.

Customer.

I used to be a member several years ago when I was actively posting, but now I mostly lurk and I rarely post. I don’t really participate enough to consider myself a member – I get way more out of the board then I put in, so in my mind that makes me a customer.

Hi, my name is Nava and I’m a member of the Dope, says so up there.

It’s a social hangout with fees, not a place I go to buy stuff. The membership fee buys me the right to post lots of stupidity, some occasional wisdom and you guys the right to ignore either.

I like ScissorJack’s post - perfecto.

I have joined a real club in the past few months, a proper one with leather armchairs and booze and so on (though I’d have to pay an extra £2,000 to be allowed upstairs into the private lounge). I’m a member of that, so I’d say I’m a member of this one.

I have seen no stupidity in your posts, I enjoy the perspective from Spain and I am amazed by your excellent English skills. They surpass mine by a lot and I only speak English. I am assuming English is your second language to Spanish.

Jim

Member, I’ve been posting for nearly three years I think I might just allow myself that much. Also since I was a plain member before it went to a pay-for service then I don’t see how my status has changed.

I’m a member of the community and a customer of the messageboard.

Through members (and customers) here, one can experience other’s activities as diverse as “leather armchairs and booze” to “extended voulunteer efforts for tsunami victims.”

That’s pretty cool.

I’ll echo everything QtM said in the OP. For better or worse, this place is a part of my life, and without Cecil’s and the board’s influences, I’d be a different person, possibly much different.
