If by ‘smokes’ you mean smokes tobacco, then I do prefer that they light up elsewhere. I’m a former smoker, so tobacco smoke makes me sick and nostalgic.
If they’re smoking something other than tobacco, I’d have to take it on a case by case basis.
No, it doesn’t bother me. As someone who has given up, I am determined I won’t be that irritating ex smoker, and smelling the odd whiff of someone else’s cigarette is not going to kill me.
I would prefer that they didn’t, but the preference is not so strong as to inspire me to actually say anything or to relocate. If we graphed it on a 1-10 line with 5 absolutely neutral, I’d be a 7.
Yes, I hate it. Then I have to smell it for the rest of the day and have a headache. I’m not worried about occasional exposure to second hand smoke being dangerous for me, it just makes me feel sick. I don’t know how I could have stood it back when smoking was allowed all over the place. Before it was outlawed here, I did still used to go to bars and clubs that allowed smoking, since that was all of them, but it sucked.
More than bothered, I’m allergic to tobacco.
No, unless it is like a car with the windows rolled up or something.
Yes, to be fair, that’s gross. My Dad always did that when we were kids.
Hey, it was the 70s!
Yes, I am bothered. My parents smoked around me all the time when I was a kid, and now I have asthma because of it. Add that to the fact that this is Montreal, and people are always inconsiderately smoking where they shouldn’t, and yeah - I don’t like it when someone smokes near me.
If you mean “smoking” like Morticia Addams used to do, then yes I’d be a little perturbed.
As long as I don’t have to be exposed to the smoke (i.e. in event that the smoker is considerate enough to stand downwind), I don’t really care.
No, cigarette smoke doesn’t bother me, and I actually like the smell of it. I had smoked a lot when I was younger, and truthfully, if it wasn’t bad for my health, I would probably still be smoking. I do think it is inconsiderate for smokers to smoke around other people, and they really shouldn’t do it. No one should be smoking nowadays because of the health risks.
Doesn’t register with me. I don’t use tobacco, but don’t mind the odor.
I have bronchitis. Secondhand smoke cuts off my oxygen.
from a distance, a whiff? Love it. close by? Hate it. Will beat down anyone who breaks a rule about not smoking in my house or car or where I eat. “put it out, leave and don’t come back, or I’ll beat the living shit out of you”, is my way of handling things gracefully.
Yes, I am bothered by it. The first whiff is fine, almost pleasant. But after awhile, it’s too much. Plus, I don’t like the idea of my lungs filling with carcinogens. And I don’t want to stink of it on me.
I can’t stand it. Disgusting smell.
Ex smoker here. It doesn’t bother me out on the golf course–go ahead smoke away. But if you smoke outside the loading dock at my shop and it comes in…gah!
Depends on the situation.
Light up at the table after dinner? No, please go elsewhere.
In my vehicle? Open that window.
No smoking in my kitchen, bedroom, bathroom under any circumstances. If I have people over, smoke outside.
Outdoors? I don’t mind as long as you don’t toss your butt on the ground - pick it up and put it in the coffee can I keep by the garage for that purpose.
And yes, I am a smoker myself.
If I’m in a bar or party atmosphere I just assume it comes with the territory and don’t mind it. If I’m eating though it bothers me.
