Nope, don’t care.
At least they’re not in the U.S. again this year. Remember the international press complaining the ceremonies were too American?
Remember these highlights of the last winter olympics?
The Austrian ski team being so cavalier about doping that they left all kinds of their equipment behind at the place they were staying.
The infamous Russian-French conspiracy in figure skating.
Notwithstanding the above, Valdimir Putin threatening to pull Russia out of the Olympics unless Slutskaya was awarded a gold medal even though she fucked up her long program.
South Korea also threatening to withdraw from the Olympics after their boy wasn’t awarded a medal for fucking up a short track figure skating race.
Canadian hockey fans being ripped for waving too many Canadian flags and not enough Quebec flags.
This is a partial list of course.
I have never seen as little build up to the Olympics as this year though there will likely be a ramp up to it as it draws nearer. Naturally, the winter Olympics feature sports seldom played in the U.S. anyway so they aren’t a huge deal to begin with, but maybe people have just started to give up on the whole thing a little bit.
