Shouldn’t this be in the Pit?
Oh hell yes I’m going to buy it, there are train tracks right down the road form me.
That’s not a coin, it’s a commemoritive medal.
The mint is releasing the first four Presidential $1.00 coins this year, though. Price: $1.00.
You always want things in the pit so you can say bad words. Yawn. This is a simple IMHO. No bad words required.
It looks like a coin, and meets the dictionary definition of a coin
“2c : something resembling a coin especially in shape”
That’s all we need here. Monetary distinctions aside, are you going to buy one?
If my dad were still alive, he would buy one. He collected coins.
No.
If a coin can be defined as “something resembling a coin” then a cucumber can be defined as a penis.
Common-usage dictionary definitions serve no purpose when one is speaking in a specific context. In the context of products produced by the US Mint, coins are metallic tokens which are used as currency. The subject of this thread is not a coin.
And no, I’m not going to buy one. WTF would I want one for?
“I’m going to the store!”
“While you’re there, get a bag of penises!”
It does have a certain ring to it…
Fine the subject of the thread, at least for you, is not a coin. You don’t have to get nasty about it.
The mint calls them “medals”.
Fine. Are you going to buy the George W. Bush medal?
Mod: please close this. The hecklers have taken over the thread.
Remind me not to have salad at your house.
According To Pliny,
Are you cranky??
Sure I’ll buy it. I already have a blowtorch and a sledgehammer, sitting in the garage unused.
Yeah, but any disgust I feel over W getting his face on out money will be counteracted by the joy over his death (as long as he lives long enough to hear his grandkid say “Grandpa why did you do all those awful things we learned about in school?”).
Yes.
This isn’t a thread about how disgusting you can talk about politicians.
It’s a simple question:
I didn’t know there was a “coin” (i.e., medal) with George’s picture on it.
And I thought: I wonder who will buy those? Why not ask? Yes or no. No big deal.
But I didn’t count on the level of the audience.
Damn, yours is much better.
How dare you ask a yes or no question about the great satan!
If I collected those type of medallion thingies, then I would get the Bush coin - just like I plan on collecting the Kennedy and Nixon dollar coins regardless of how I feel about them as people or presidents. I do not however, collect presidential medallions, so I’m a “no”
I wouldn’t want to touch one or look at one, much less buy it.
