I’ve often wondered about the girl who shouts “Start singing!” at the beginning of the Stones’ live version of Midnight Rambler.
And it would be cool to have been in the audience for Lynyrd Skynyrd’s live album, when they asked the audience what they wanted to hear – and for the first and last time ever, the non-humorous/ironic response was “Freebird!”.
A Pearl Jam concert I was at in Atlanta (at the Fox Theater) was broadcast live on the radio…it was played all over the country.
And probably only other Chicagoans will know this band, but I was at a Material Issue concert at Metro that where they recorded some songs for a live EP.
Practically everyone that’has been to a Who show since 2000 is on their “Encore Series” CDs, (and on this last tour, DVD’s). They make soundboard-recorded perfomances available with the proceeds going to various charities. Pete also sells various solo shows on his Eelpie website…I’m on the La Jolla II CD.
In 1989, Leo made a concert film called Home and Away. Most of the concert footage was shot in a church in Toronto (can’t remember the name of the church, but it’s a great place to see a show). Anyway, you can briefly see me in a crowd scene. *Home and Away * has been re-released as Home and Away Revisited, with extra footage, especially of Leo and Michael Hedges jamming.

Where were they taped? I might have been there.

Oops. My memory must be going. Blame advancing age. It was at the Fox Theater in Boulder, Colorado. It’s copyrighted 1995 but the liner notes don’t give dates for the actual recordings.
My Not-A-Boyfriend attended Big Black’s final show in Seattle, which was held in a wharehouse on the waterfront. He’s in the movie - you can see him sitting up on some pipes, apparently. (I’ve never seen it.)
(He also dated Nirvana’s first manager, and made their first stickers.)
Everybody that saw They Might Be Giants on their 2004 tour is on Venue Songs. John & John wrote a song for each stop on the tour and recorded all of them. Some of them were re-recorded in the studio and had videos made for them. Great show, too. Too bad they don’t tour much ouside of the northeast.
My sister and I are in the 30 Odd Foot of Grunts (Russell Crowe’s band) concert film Texas that was shot in Austin. There’s at least one good two-shot of us because we were right up front. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival later, so now I can claim I was in a movie that played Sundance, and play myself in the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game.
I know, shut up, it was fun. Their albums are pretty good for driving down the highway and singing along.
I was at one of the Hammersmith Odeon gigs on Rush’s Permanent Waves tour, which means there’s a chance I’m on Exit Stage Left. Although you can barely hear the crowd on that album, ISTR.
