It was Reddit putting a sub-par driver into a sub-par car. The thing that really pissed me off was when they voted Josh Wise (!) into the All-Star race so they could yank it over their cleverness. What might have been a cool story turned into another case of Anonymous-type silliness.
Worse was the never-ending Doge memes in the race threads.
Agreed. As I said above, not an IndyCar fan, but that was a great race. With the added attraction of Kurt driving (nice job BTW), they caught some eyeballs they might not have otherwise caught and made it worth the view. Good for them. That last few laps was incredible.
And now we settle in for the longest show on pavement…
He really did a fine job. His health is obviously very poor, but he was in great voice. He should have done the Anthem too, and kept that Rimes chick locked up.
Who should sing “Back Home” after Nabors? He says he wants the fans to do it. Will they get a different “celebrity” every year, or start a new tradition?
I don’t know. I’m half-tempted to say that they should just do a Kate Smith (a la the Flyers) and play the recording of him before every race. Who could match Jim Nabors?
I’d rather they not get a new celebrity every year. They can never seem to sing a song without trying to make it their own.
Anyway, the engines are started in Charlotte, so let’s get to it.
I disagree. While it’s obvious that the team of Johnson/Knauss has mastered the end-of-season race schedule - can they adapt to the new format? One bad race in the first three and you’re probably out (unless you can recover with a win and strong finish). Ditto the second three and so on. It’s different this time, sprints instead of a 10 race endurance challenge. And after all, Johnson has lost two out of the last three Chases.
You wanna be the best? Beat the best.
Thanks for the F-1 explanation. The announcers were doing a terrible job of explaining just what might be the problem.
