Me, I have to root for the Cubs, even though I’m a Yankees fan. They deserve it so badly, and they came so close two years ago. You?

Nope. I like the Orioles (since 1971) and the Rockies (since whenever it was they started) and that’s all there is to it. Come the playoffs, I’ll root for someone else since my teams won’t be there, but not during the season.
Yeah, any team that’s playing the Cubs.
Yeah, I grew up in Maryland and I was always a Redskins and Orioles fan. Now I’m living in Australia and my husband has informed me that I must root (although I can’t use that word here) for Manly - some sort of footie team. We’ll see how this goes - they do wear a sort of maroon-y color, so I can pretend they’re the Redskins.
The Illini - I’m a Wisconsin native and UW-Madison alumnus, but they didn’t advance this far in the championships.
Freddy - I always hear that from White Sox fans. Meanwhile, I’d be thrilled to see either the Cubs or the White Sox get to the pennant races, but in previous years, Sox fans that I know have rooted against the Cubs regardless, heh.
Yes, as a longtime Yankees fan living in Boston I have decided to pull for the Red Sox this year.
The only time in my life I ever really and truly yearned for the Red Sox to win was the 1986 World Series…and we all know how THAT turned out. :smack:
I figure my rooting for them this year will guarantee they DON’T repeat.
Making it into the final eight is not far?
As a Kentucky Wildcat fan (and UK student) there was no one left in the tournament for me to potentially support. I hate North Carolina almost as much as I hate Louisville and Michigan State, and Illinois borders on Kentucky.
I’m also hoping my St. Louis Cardinals go back to the Series, although I am now required to at least not insult the Sox since I live with a member of Red Sox Nation.
Now see, basketball, that’s a different animal. No matter how intense the conference rivalry gets, I always root for my fellow Big Tenners in non-conference games.
But the Cubs, no. If they’re playing the Taliban All-Stars, I’m looking for an Afghani Bartman.
I’m a diehard Ravens and University of Maryland (Go Terps!) fan, but being stuck here in the Midwest, I never get to see any of the games. So I’m reluctantly rooting for the Pack and the UW Badgers.
Awww… God Bess yer heart.

Sing it with me
“Hail to the Redskins!”…
sigh Nah, though it’s really tempting at times. I’m a Philly girl, and the Eagles were so close in the SuperBowl! So close! And…uh, the Phillies, uh, have a really cool mascot. And one of the worst records in MLB history, I think.
wanders of to cry tears of bitter humiliation
I always sort of idly root for the Red Sox, mostly because Johnny Damon is my Pretend Baseball Boyfriend.
Who are you going to pretend is John Riggins?
This far, i.e., the final game. After the Badgers got knocked out of the competition, I started cheering for the Illini. (Not like it helped. )
Good choice, though there’s a saying - Everyone has two teams, their own, and who ever’s playing Manly.
And as an Australian, the amount of “rooting” in this thread can’t help but bring a smile to the face.
Orioles fan here all my life, but I’m tempted to become a closeted Nationals fan.
::sigh::
I shall, as always, be rooting for my Sawk. Primetime baseball, bleary-eyed mornings. Ahhh…Summertime.
Nope, my teams are the Tribe and the Nats and always have been (well, um, the Indians always have been, anyway).
Both are 0-1.
sigh

I’m a longtime Yankees fan (Cugel, that same joke gets made here about the Yanks :)), but I do find myself kind of passively rooting for the Nationals.
