Wow. I find it hard enough to have one personality, let alone two.
That surprises me, I did not pick up on that with any of my meetings with Dopers.
Maybe I am just not as observant or maybe I made greater allowances for the difference between written messages and how people talk in casual situations.
No, it is I who is the unobservant one. I buy into the exaggerated personality that we all try to portray online.
Fun fact: when I met** anyrose** this weekend the first thing that came out of her mouth were something like “oh wow, you’re a lot smaller than a pictured!”
I’m a bit like Puck like that.
I don’t know, I think the only exaggerated part for me is my calmness. On-line gives me a chance to change an angry post or just shut the tab as I realize that saying something would be of no use or make things worse.
What kind of exaggerations were you talking about? (I am not looking for specific examples, but I also don’t see people claiming to be NBA players.)
We don’t really have internet tough guys and so many of us admit to be geeks of various sorts, that I doubt more than a few are hiding behind an on-line façade.
I’ve been to a half dozen fests and pretty much everyone matched up with my perception of them so I’m similarly surprised. Funnily enough, **bbs2k **is one of the exceptions, though. He wasn’t much at all like I expected.
Wow, there was a Dopefest at a nudist camp?

Shodan
