Are you sick of people admiring your intelligence and knowledge? Are you tired of people calling you astute? Then do I have an opportunity for you!

Oh wow, I remember LimeWire way back in the day. I used that, and BearShare, and of course Napster. So long ago.

Apparently LimeWire was shut down in 2010 after losing a lawsuit. The new company with the name LimeWire has no affiliation with the old one, and it sells music NFTs. (Ugh.)

Pretty much.

I should have said "legal’. You’re right, legit might be overselling it.

They did sell NFTs when they first came back, but I’m not sure they still are. (Are NFTs even still a thing?) Their website now says nothing about NFTs and is all about secure file sharing.

Sounds like pretty much exactly the sort of business that you would expect to be buying the rights to Fyre Festival

Wouldn’t that be like bringing evil flesh-eating zombies back to life, or removing the stake from Dracula’s heart and bringing him back to life?

Next up, eMule is buying the Willy Wonka Experience.

They still are.

They have a link on that page to OpenSea where they sell them to suckers.

As per their token home page, they do file sharing, but it’s now “AI-powered” and the LimeWire token is “the backbone of its file sharing and decentralized computing products”.

The file sharing is a cover for their crypto scheme. It’s as sketchy as anything you’ll see. It’s no wonder they wanted to buy the Fyre Festival brand. It’s all just a cover.

NetZero acquires Blockbuster!

I’d never have heard of them if they hadn’t been mentioned in Weird Al’s Don’t Download This Song.

Thank you for throwing yourself on the sword and doing more research than I was willing to do!

Yes, sketchy as hell. A match made in heaven.
