Aren't electric drills with metal housings more dangerous?

I was surprised to see Amazon.com selling this drill. I thought almost all modern drills used ABS plastic insulated housings for safety. Even if it’s cordless, if you hit a wire by accident while drilling do you really want to be holding a drill with an aluminum housing?

What am I missing here? I can’t imagine B&D would deliberately sell an unsafe or less safe drill.

Not at all. As long as the metal housing is grounded, it’s perfectly safe.

I didn’t see the bit where it’s cordless. So it can’t be grounded. Nevertheless, as long as the bit is insulated from the housing, there’s no real risk.

Being a cordless as long as they kept the housing isolated / insulated from the chuck this is no more of a problem then a plastic cased drill.

Many corded tools still have metal cases but a 3 wire grounded cord is used for protection.

I have to get faster around here.
