A few years ago, I read a nice story, in the travel section of the NY TIMES (drat-should have kept it). It concerned a ranch on the pamapas of Argentina, where the guests could dress like, and ride with the gauchos (cowboys). This seems like a real neat vacation-anybody know the address of this ranch?
I remember that you got to eat at a typical Argentine babeque (parillada), and the riding sounded like fun.
Having a few extra dolars this year, I would like to do this. anybody in Argentina know more?
What’s a rach?
Its a “ranch” without the n!
Are you referring to this article?
It all depends on what you want to do. There are literally hundreds of estancias (maybe thousands) in Argentina that offer horse riding and one hell of a barbeque. Do you want to stay out on the ranch (or “rach”)? Or do you want to make it a day-trip while you stay in Buenos Aires? Do you want a touristy “gaucho” experience or are you more interested in just riding horses and seeing the countryside?
I’ve found that TripAdvisor has always given me solid recommendations. I can recommend a nice estancia that is a day-trip from Buenos Aires, focuses on just horse riding (no gaucho show), and of course will give you the best meal you’ve ever tasted.
