Since he also asked to see his daughter (that would be the child borne by one of his victims that was also kept locked up), I would say that his grasp on how much evil he has committed is fuzzy at best.
The guy is clearly innocent of all the rape charges. It is impossible for a rape to result in pregnancy, and since he has a kid with one of the women, it was clearly not rape.
Too soon?
He is being held on 8 million dollar bond. What happens if the bond is posted?
Then he gets out on bond.
After what he’s done to Cuba now this? The guy is worse than they told us.
I am opposed to the death penalty, and to using prison rape as an instrument of justice, but Castro is among those people who have done things so horrible that I can’t be bothered to care about him at all, no matter what may happen to him. I oppose the death penalty and prison rape for the sake of the society I live in, in the interest of it being a decent one.
And the very second he does something like fart in public, he is hauled in for violating his bond conditions and his bond is increased to 16 million.
Isn’t it possible to deny bond?
He pled guilty this morning. Life without the possibility of parole, death penalty off the table.
CNN reports that he is blaming his behavior on porn.
They have that for non-homicides?
Apparently the threat of the death penalty was for the miscarriages. How strong was the prosecution’s case on that that they could have proved murder of some sort? I would think Castro’s lawyer would have seen through that and realized the state probably had a weak case on the murder charges. The kidnapping and other charges were probably pretty strong, so I have little doubt Castro saw that he couldn’t fight those enough to avoid life in prison.
In Soviet Union, porn blames you!
Glad he did the sensible thing and spared us the expense of a trial. Didn’t need all those news trucks back again.
Ted Bundy tried to play that card too.
Basically in Webster v. Reproductive Health Services, the US SC upheld, at least by considered dictum, IMO, fetal homicide laws.
2903.01 Aggravated murder.
(A) No person shall purposely, and with prior calculation and design, cause the death of another or the unlawful termination of another’s pregnancy.
(B) No person shall purposely cause the death of another or the unlawful termination of another’s pregnancy while committing or attempting to commit, or while fleeing immediately after committing or attempting to commit, kidnapping, rape, aggravated arson, arson, aggravated robbery, robbery, aggravated burglary, burglary, trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present, terrorism, or escape.
In Iowa, if a fetus of any age dies as the result of the commission of a crime, even if the mother survives, the person who did it can be charged with “nonconsensual termination of a human pregnancy.”
found dead, seems suicide.
I’d say that deserves a new thread, don’t you?
