The plea deal is gross.
Based upon the age of the parties, he should have been looking at up to six years in prison.
“Victim age 14 or 15. An adult age 20 or older commits the crime of fourth-degree sexual assault by engaging in sexual penetration with a minor age 14 or 15. A convicted defendant would receive a class D felony, punishable by up to 6 years of prison time.”
I wonder if the parents had some input in not wanting the baby-daddy to be put in prison. Not that that makes the plea deal right.

Yeah, what I’m also reading is that the age of consent in Arkansas is 16. Any younger and it’s a crime. If the defendant is less than 7 years older than the minor, then that might fall under the “Romeo and Juliet” exception (no guarantee of that), but we’re talking 22 and 15 so that doesn’t apply.
There’s also an exception if they’re married, but that also doesn’t apply here.
Anything about ‘sales tax’? Just thought I’d ask.
