So I picked up Webers new opus and so far I am both impressed at what he has done and at the same time disapointed that it appears to be a variation on the General by Steve Stirling.

With ten percent of the book still left to finish , at least so far it has not been a waste of money. I would expect that at most a few loose ends are going to be tied up and the safeholdians are going to go through a phase of late 17th century to early 19th century boot strapping.

Whats going to be interesting is how he manages to break the electric wall, when it comes about.

Anyone else reading it at the moment.

Yeah, I just finished it.

I liked it too, but was a little disappointed that it seems to be another variation on his theme of old-technology meets new. He also did that in The Excalibur Alternative and the Heirs of Empire series, which I really liked.

Still, he did come at it from a different angle, and it was an enjoyable read.
