Arrested Development 12/12/05

Or his for that matter.

Big Yellow Joint…Big Yellow Joint…I’ll meet you down by the Big Yellow Joint…

Not the best episode, and I sure didn’t like looking at Tobias. (And David Cross thought he had it bad when he needed to wear that mustache!) But there were some very funny lines. Michael’s pause during his line after Lucille made her moisture comment was terrific. Ditto for GOB screwing up the jetpack and the Prison Break joke. My brother made me replay the scene where Michael tries to play guitar, and there’s this throwaway exchange:

G-M: Maybe you should see someone.
M: Like Mom?
G-M: Does she play guitar?

“He can’t get involved with Mom. He’s old enough to be her contemporary.”

Question: About 2 weeks ago I read at the bottom of one of those entertainment news shows that there was talks for another station to pick up Arrested Development sometime in the future. So I was curious if anyone else had heard anything?

That’ll always be the dream, that it’ll be picked up by HBO or Showtime. In fact, Mitch is going to address just that in an
upcoming episode.

Could you love those writers any more?

Yeah…but is there actually any hope in there, or is it just one last poke at Fox?

-Joe

The sure have a knack for great guest star casting. Him, Super Dave, Charlize Theron, Martin Short, Chachi etc.

I hope Lipton’s appearance means that we’re going to get an Arrested Development episode of Inside The Actor’s Studio.

From here:

I’ve never heard of James Lipton. Which show is he on that I’m missing?

Heinously pompous and obsequious host of Bravo’s Inside the Actors Studio, where they bring on a celebrity and kiss thier ass for an hour. It used to be real actors, but now al it takes it notoriety.

But I’m glad to see he has such a great sense of humor about himself!

E.g., they recently had Famous Actor Elton John on the show. His acting resume being so large they had to make it a 2 hour show! I guess they needed all that time to analyze his cameo in “Tommy”.

Possible good news: this story says both ABC and Showtime are in talks to pick up Arrested Development, with Showtime showing the greatest interest. If they do pick it up, I’ll definitely subscribe to Showtime. Maybe I can contact Showtime to let them know…

So uh, could someone who watches Prison Break share the references with us? Some seem self-explanatory, but Jamba Juices are hard to break in to?

Mmm… Jamba Juice…

That sounds like a very good idea. I’m sure the people over at The OP and TWoP are making up a form letter right now (which will probably just be a te=weaked version of the angry form letter to Fox execs)

“We’re not breaking out of a Jamba Juice, gentlemen.” – Michael Scofield - Prison Break (Episode 1.5)

So Prison Break features a genius structural engineer and prison designer (Michael Scofield) who gets himself thrown into prison by robbing a bank in order to save the life of his brother who is on death row because of a government conspiracy. As part of his elaborate plan, he encodes the plans of the prison into a full body tattoo.

One of the inmates is Theodore “T-Bag” Bagwell, who is a white supremacist and a sadistic sexual predator. An all-around evil fellow. Not sure if George Michael was uncomfortable with the nickname “T-Bag” for Tobias because he watches Prison Break (doesn’t everyone?) or if he is thinking of the act of “tea bagging”.

Can’t think of any others beyond those three…

I was looking at the vibro-base monthly budget and thinking “Why do we still take Showtime? We never watch anything on it except Penn and Teller.” If they pick up AD, I’ll keep 'em on the channel guide!

In particular, one of T-Bag’s characteristics is that he always has a pretty young cellmate for nefrious purposes.

Yeah; I missed the ep but I’m glad to see from this thread that I don’t have to go on hating that guy!

A kid that scared of jail probably couldn’t watch Prison Break. “Tea bagging” fits into Tobias’s pattern of accidental innuendo, so I think that’s probably what George-Michael reacted to.

Yeah, George Michael is terrified of Oz, and he’s all too familiar with Tobias’s Charlie Browns when he insisted on climbing onto the top bunk while wearing jean shorts.
