I’ve finally gotten around to watching Arrested Development on Netflix, and I have a question:
In the 2nd season (I think) we’re introduced to the private investigator the Bluth family uses, and he’s presented as a “master of disguise”. I’ve been finding it absolutely hilarious when, every single time the PI reveals that it was him under the disguise, Lucille’s whole face lights up and she squeals in childlike glee at the “surprise”.
My question is … is Lucille genuinely surprised every time? Like, she’s got enough of an alcoholic buzz going constantly that she just doesn’t catch on until the “reveal”? Or is she deliberately exaggerating in order to convince her children that the guy is really really good at what he does?
My wife and I think we are the only ones who noticed Gene Parmesan is playing one of the trumpets in the Mexican band playing “Sound of Silence” in season 4. The final time that song plays for Gob in the season, I think.
It’s not referenced or mentioned in any way, but it is there.
Another ongoing joke that is puzzling me is the way, so far as I’ve watched, at least three different members of the Bluth family have done this “chicken” thing. It’s mostly been Gob so far, but I think I saw one of the other Bluth kids doing in, and then I saw Lucille doing it …
… so far it’s been funny in a slapstick sense. I find myself waiting for some sort of explanation as to why their “chicken” dances are so stupid.
My “head canon” explains it thus: they are so rich and out of touch that they actually have no idea of how an actual chicken moves and sounds.
[QUOTE=Arrested Development Wiki]
Each member of the Bluth family has a different form of a Chicken Dance that they use to mock other people, usually members of their family. The origin of the family’s habit is unknown…

The page covers all scenes with the Chicken Dance, and some video clips at the end.
Bumping to sort of grant your wish. Nothing too official-- in fact, I feel like telling us "The next season is very close to happening’ has become it’s own running gag for Brian Grazer and various cast members.
