Arrested Development

But George Michael learned his ethics from his father who (in spite of major difficulties) tried to act ethically almost all the time.

It just wasn’t funny. It was like one of those Saturday Night Live skits that just keeps getting drawn out even though it isn’t getting any laughs. The only laugh I actually got out of the “Mr. F” plotline was the very last joke, and only because it was a reference to Being There.

Everything else? Pretty funny, especially the stunt cameos like Carl Weathers as himself and Liza Manelli as Lucile 2, and having Henry Winkler jump over a shark and then be replaced by Scott Baio.

“Steve Holt!”

I just finished watching all 3 seasons of this show and loved it. I also think this show makes the perfect case for ending while you still have people laughing. The last part of season 3 really felt forced to me.

Now excuse while I work on my Bob Loblaw law blog

Michael was just as messed up as everyone else in the family, just in a different way. You can especially see this in the season 2 opener when he escapes the family to start a new life, but turns around because he can’t stand the thought of them not needing him.

It reminds of the Bible story about the two brothers, Goofus and Gallant.

I thought it was pretty funny. Or maybe I just like Charlize Theron.

I thought Charlize did a great job with that character. I was just saying to my sister last week that it really showcases her ability as an actor.

Well, her British accent was flawless.

I’m mid-way through Season 3 now. The show has been brilliant, with the exception of the tow or three Martin Short episodes which sucked the funny right out of the whole production.

Mrs G and I spend our time deconstructing and evaluating the different chicken dances. Backaw! Backaw!

There’s only been one Martin Short episode.

Thankfully.

I think what was supposed to make him different was that he was, or at least tried to be, a good person.

Michael had a good heart and tried to be a good guy. He also was the one most aware of the various issues of his family (though he had a tremendous blind spot where George Michael was concerned). But he wasn’t any smarter than the rest.

Marry me!

Indeed, on the few occasions when he tried to assert himself and get a little joy out of life, he ended up feeling massively guilty.

But still, where’d the lighter fluid come from?

They’re illusions, Michael.

He did try to be a good person, and usually was. He was also pretty messed up.

No touching!

Yep. She was turning illusions for money.

Really? And all the guys like her, huh? That is, that is, that is great. Uh, you mean “away,” though, right? Because otherwise it sounds a little different, but, uh, that’s, uh, that’s outstanding. You forgot to say “away” again. But listen, let me call you back in a bit, okay? Bye. Nellie has blown them all away.

Talk you off what, Pop pop?

 I love that!

Hah, you should have seen the look on his fa… well I’m his twin, I can just show you.

“You, sir, are a mouthful.”
