A friend of mine is trying to identify an Asian girl that she saw featured on CNN headline news not too long ago. She missed the name (and where she was from), but she says, “Not only was she beautiful, but her voice was angelic and the music sounded actually quite Western (almost folk/pop).”
Any suggestions as to who this might be?
The three names I immediately thought of were Coco Lee (Chinese), Utada Hikaru (Japanese) and BoA (Korean). Those are the big three in Asia, and I’m pretty sure all of them have released English-language stuff.

Ah, I forgot to mention, she didn’t sing in English. My friend said the music had a rather Westernish flavor, but the lyrics were in the singer’s language (which she didn’t recognize, unfortunately.)
