While you were still self-identifying as a creationist, was there a time when, in some sense at least, you were consciously aware that you were manufacturing (knowingly)false dismissal arguments of evolution?

Oh, most certainly. There was always a debate as to how literal vs. allegorical the book of Revelations was, but the fact that believers would be whisked away when the time came was not in question.
For a very short time towards the end of that period I was becoming aware of it, that is essentially what convinced me to change my views. Up to that point though everything I knew about evolution was filtered through creationist sources and, here I fear I must disagree with my brother, when it comes to topics such as this I find that YE creationists disappointingly dishonest in their rhetoric. I wasn’t quite aware of how tinted my world view had become based solely on the sources of my information.
