Ask the guy who's been an SDMB board member for 10 years today

With a post count like that they don’t fail you often

I feel so old…

Question: How do you feel about joining on the same day as that legendary poster 11yo doofus (interests: looking up cheerleaders skirts)?

It appears he registered on Oct 16 so he’s not really even in the same league as me.

But for a scary thought, consider this: He’s now a 21 year old doofus.

You newbie… Don’t worry, you’ll get the hang of this board one of these days.

Ever been in a Turkish prison?

What do you miss the most about the preP2P era? (I know it’s free to post again now, but I separate my personal eras of SDMB by the P2P crap)

What are you most glad about changing from then to now?

How do you feel about posting to this thread today, even though its premise is no longer accurate? Also, today is Mexico’s independence day. Do you have any more speeches that you can translate poorly into Spanish, then poorly again back into English?

Whatcha been up to lately?

What’s with the whole “Hi, Opal” thing?

Skipped the whole indoctrination, eh? Well, as a 99er, I’ll administer the usual punishment as soon as I round up the goats and the squid.

Here this should help:

No. But I have seen a grown man naked.

I guess I could say the ads, but they never really bothered me enough to even try to get ad blocker. Sometimes I find them amusing depending on the subject matter and how they match up with the threads.

What I miss most, honestly, is a post count! For everyone! I just liked seeing that number, even if it didn’t necessarily lead any weight towards what the person was saying.

What I like that’s changed is that there are now numbers for every post in a thread so you can easily reference what’s been said before and track a thread as it goes along day after day.

And I have to give a shout out to the moderators/admins. Yes, it’s basically a thankless volunteer job, and yes, they screw up from time to time. But they’ve kept this board from delving into a sea of anarchy. And let’s be honest. Much as we rail against the strictness here, it’s really, trivially easy to not get banned on these boards. It’s called not being an ass-nougat.

Oh, and sometimes I miss Dopefests. We just don’t have them like they were back in the day.

I thought about starting another thread called “Ask the guy who’s been an SDMB board member for 10 years and one day today.” But then I’d be an ass-nougat. So I decided against it.

And yes. Yes I do. Here you go!

¡Soy Guillermo Wallace! ¡NUESTRA LIBERTAD!

I am Guillermo Wallace! And I see a whole army of my countrymen, here in the challenge of the tyranny. You have come to fight whereas they are the free men… and the free men you. What you will do with that freedom? You will fight? Aye, fights and you can die. He works, and you will live at least… awhile. And dying in his beds, many years from now on, you would be prepared to negotiate Every day, as of this day to that one, to an occasion, as soon as an occasion, to become and to say our enemies here who can take our lives, only they’ ll never takes… OUR FREEDOM!

Whelp. I’m having a kid. First one. In November. So that’s kinda exciting.
And I watched Whip It for the first time last week. I liked the modern retro feel where it was taking place in 2009 but it felt like it was 1982. Still, it was overall a rather mediocre film. I guess I’d rather see the real thing.

Why is hot sauce hot?

I was around in late '99 but didn’t register until '01. I was a total newb to message boards and at first I just waited until I got my feet wet. THEN, all you early birds intimidated me with your clever usernames. I wanted to be equally as witty; but alas, it was not to be. I finally gave up in '01 and registered as Ruby.

My question to you, however, is why do I continue to pronounce your username “Underwear24” in my head?

Because it has failed to be quenched by my milkshake that brought all the boys to the yard.

Because, like 97.5% of the Dope, you are functunally illiterate.

functunally? func-tun-ally? func-tune-ally?

The Autotune of message boards!

The Autotune of message boards!

Whoa!
Just like the Old Days!

It’s actually short for Fun Canned Tuna Ally. It’s a street that the editors of Harry Potter decided to eliminate.

Do you have any idea who I am? I was on a really good streak of going almost 10 years without getting Pitted, then there was that unpleasantness with my big fat racism, but mostly I fly under the radar, as far as I can tell. Especially with my invisible posts.

Shoot, you’ll probably just ignore this post because it’s from a n00b. :frowning:

ETA: I never thought of your username as Underwear24, but I will now! Thanks, Ruby!

ETA: Stoopit '99ers.

Yes. You are Cat Whisperer. You speak to the cats. You speak for the cats too.

And yeah, I know who you are. I mean, not personally. Not biblically either. But with 28K posts to your name it’s hard not to bump into you once or twice, pittings be damned.
