Colonoscopy tomorrow. Cleaning out the innerds tonight, so I’m taking a dose of the bowel-cleaning drink, Plenvu, right now. Should be a fun evening. Ask me anything!
You’re going to be using a mobile phone for your answers, right?

Cell in US? Sorry…
Most likely.
Make sure it’s really, really cold. Swallowing that vile concoction* is the first part of your upcoming tribulations. And for your sake, I hope they knock you out when it’s time for the… probing.
*The 2nd time I mixed it with apple juice. Still horrible, but a little less so.
45 minutes, on the dot, from first sip to “lift off.”
I did chill it for about 15 minutes in the fridge before starting the dose. Should’ve probably gone in an hour before drinking. They did try to make it taste ok, with some fruit flavor added, but, yeah, not what i was hoping for this Fat Tuesday. My wife and kids are at my in-laws feasting right now.
And PSA: if you’re 45+, get this done. Not pleasant, but important.
I think I’ll be under during the procedure. I’m getting anesthesia anyway. Hope it’s enough to knock me out
Yeah, I had that done when I had active colitis - without anaesthesia. Jeez. I wish you blissful sleep for the procedure.

This last time I used Sutab pills in place of any liquid glop. Much less unpleasant.
Yeah, the liquid makes me vomit, so it doesn’t completely go through my system. Last time, they had me do the pills, too.
My doctor has referred me for a colonoscopy, which I haven’t acted upon because I’ve heard that the prep is no fun at all. I will be watching this thread. I’ve seen Billy Connolly’s routine about it, and although that was a comedy routine, I don’t think I want that.
I was able to keep it down, but man, these Plenvu burps are blech. I’ll be tasting this stuff all night long.
Good luck.
I have no need to ask questions as I’ve had a few colonoscopies (but I had to drink those gallon jugs of stuff)
.
Never heard of Plenvu. But I sorta like the prep process. I feel so clean and light. And so socially unacceptable.
Besides. Any excuse to do nothing but sit around waiting for the next bout of explosiveness is a good excuse.
The prep is not something most people would do for fun on a Saturday night, but just doooo-eeeeet. In the, uh, rear view mirror, you’ll just laugh at yourself for having made such a fuss. The procedure itself is no big deal at all. And it is oh-so important.
@Happy_Lendervedder, good luck! I’m sure it will all go fine. However, I offer this caution: If they tell you they’re going to give you a shot of something to keep you from drooling down your throat while you’re under, decline that crap if you can. This was not given at my first procedure and I will not allow it for my next one if at all possible!
I was under for only around 20 minutes, during which time they did excise a couple small polyps. The saliva inhibitor didn’t kick in until I was already back in the Land of Awake. No amount of water helped, and I couldn’t eat anything because it was like consuming mouthfuls of dust. Which was unpleasant, because after all that fasting, I was hungry! This was by far the worst part of the procedure, so far as I’m concerned.
Keep us posted!
Good to know, thanks!
Well, I’m about 2 hours and 10 minutes into this, and i have to believe it’s almost done. I mean, how could i NOT BE DONE?!?
Overall not as bad as i was expecting. Hope tomorrow morning’s second dose isn’t as… time consuming
When you’re spraying almost clear water, and not much of it, you’re done. And not before. Keep us posted.
I don’t remember anything like this, and I was pretty much out of it for most of the procedure.
Of course, the first thing I did after getting dressed was to gulp down the strong coffee that my husband brought me, as I hadn’t had any that morning. Then we drove directly to a pho joint where I had a large bowl of chicken pho. So I was having a good liquid intake right away.
put some towels on the floor as a runner between you and the toilet. By the time you think you should you should have already gone.
I am going in next week for a second round. And they made me promise I would schedule a 3rd in two months time.
I’m much more full of shit than most people, but during colonoscopy prep I never had the problem of feeling the urge to poop and being unable to get from living room recliner to bathroom toilet before I made a mess along the way.
It was always urgent, but never that urgent.
We’re all different. But I’d be surprised if we’re that different.
An interesting question might be which meds various practices use for prep. Some medics might want to use dynamite when a little lubricant would do as well.
I had my second colonoscopy a week ago. Prep was Dulcolax pills and miralax. I’d done it before and didn’t have a problem with the Miralax. This time, after maybe 8 oz, I just couldn’t take any more. I felt so bloated my stomach wanted to heave just looking at it and smelling it. Fortunately, they said the prep was adequate. They removed one small pre-cancerous polyp. Because of family history of cancer, and the positive polyp, they want me back in 5 years.
