Ask the newish instacart shopper

Another thought: the amount of the tip was probably far less than the amount saved with no impulse buying!

When shopping with Mr VOW, I find a whole lot of stuff in the basket that wasn’t on the list. You know what I mean. Chocolate peanut clusters, a six-pack of canned olives, a case of car oil, a back yard floodlight…

The usual nonsense.

That’s also true. I don’t generally use shopping lists and of course there are always impulse buys.

How does checkout work for Instacart shoppers?

A couple of weeks ago, our order included four cups of yogurt, but we only paid for two. We also got a block of tofu, no charge. We also got two jars of chicken stock, despite having only ordered (and paid for) just one.

Today, my wife ordered a head of cabbage. It was priced by the pound, so she guessed 3 pounds for a single head. We received three whole heads of cabbage, totaling maybe ten pounds - but we were only charged for three pounds.

What’s going on here?

How does shopping from Sam’s Club or Costco work? Does the customer have to have a membership, or is there a generic Instacart account that is used?
