You know, I did try and click on that link when I read the thread, and I got a 403 errror. Sometimes I get wierd problems because of the firewall at work, but that didn’t seem like one of those… I’ll try it again…
I’m with the OP on this one. As the brother of two Marines, one who is in fact in Iraq as I type this, these things annoy the shit out of me. You want to support our troops so bad? Bring them home. Don’t pay $5 for some silly magnet that was made outside the US so that our strife can be leveraged against us and some foreign entity can make a quick buck off a person like my brother.
I did see the post that says the person works for a company making these here in the US, but stop by any bodega in Chicago and there are piles of counterfeit ones. You can tell by the hokey packaging and designs. If you haven’t already, please don’t buy these magnets, unless you know the source.
Seriously. But you know, that’s bad for morale, or something. I mean, who wants our soldiers to be alive here in the US when they could by dying heroically in Iraq?
Yeah, don’t want to send mexed Missages.
I just love the “Half of My Heart Is In Iraq” one.
Yeah. Too bad they didn’t finish the sentence.
“…and all of my brains went with it.”
How long do you suppose it will be before it becomes a full-blown craze and they’ll start coming out with all sorts of silly messages on these magnets? How many of you remember the suction-cup car window sign fad in the mid to late 80s that started with the “Baby on Board” signs?
I don’t want to frighten you, but I have seen quite a few Garfield suction-cup dolls and “Baby on Board” signs recently. I think they might be coming back. Just because something is twenty years old, it doesn’t make it good. In fact, it wasn’t good then.
Maybe you’d like to see some of the other offerings from c_carol’s employer’s website:[ul]

I said it before, I’ll say (paste) it again:
If these magnets aren’t available in your neck of the woods yet, I strongly advise you do get in on the ground floor and come up with a few designs the peole in your area would like to put on their vehicles. Even if they’re only 1/10 as popular as they are in NY, you’re guaranteed to make a killing.
I actually saw a couple (on the same car thankfully) yesterday that were sideways with the writing upside down!?! There is absolutely no reason for that mess.
