ASPLUNDH finally has an website!

For years, probably over a decade now, ASPLUNDH has been a mystery to me. I’ve seen their trucks, usually white or orange and gigantamous, milling around town with just ‘ASPLUNDH’ printed on them and nothing else. There’d be no phone number, no address, no slogan, no logo, no nothing! I tried searching for them via Google a couple of years ago and found nothing.

I saw a few of their trucks this morning and made a mental note to search for them via Google. Well, I just did and now I give you ASPLUNDH.com!

The company’s full name is Asplundh Tree Expert Co. and they’ve been around since 1928.

Is it ASS-Plund, by the way?
JuanitaTech, crossing ‘ASPLUNDH-wtf’ off her list titled Things I Keep Forgetting To Research

Wow…this definitely gets filed under “Things I Always Wanted To Know About, I Just Never Realized I Wanted To Know About Them”.

I’ve been seeing their trucks forever, and it always struck me as odd that there was no company info or anything. Thanks for the site!

And for the record, I always [mis]pronounced it either “Ass-Plund-Ush” or, if I was stuck behind one of their slow-moving trucks, “Ass-Plunderer”.

I’ve always heard it pronounced "asp-lhund’

I’d never seen them until I became a US resident. My first thought was “Help! I’ve bent my Asplundh!”

I think it’d be pronounced something like “ahsp-loondh”. It’s a Swedish word meaning “aspen grove”.

I used to live next door to Emily Asplundh, Carl’s widow. It’s pronounced ahsplond (rhymes with blonde). Very nice family.

I didn’t realize it was a national company. They’ve been around here forever too and I’ve known all along what they do.

They were doing some work clearing branches from the roadsides near where my brother-in-law and sister lived. My brother-in-law approached one of the workers and said they could dump a load or two of the chips in his yard. The guy readily agreed. That way, they didn’t have to waste time going back to where ever they normally dump the stuff every time they have a full load and they got their job done quicker. My brother-in-law got all the mulch he wanted for their newly landscaped yard for free. Anyone who also wants free mulch can call their local Asplundh office and see if they might do this when their in your area.

I always thought it was pronounced Ass-puh-lund.

[ breaks into a fit of the giggles ]

Asplundh…he, he, he…I have always thought…he, he, he…

Never mind, I can’t tell you what I always think of when I see those trucks. It’s too stupid, and you’d all think I was strange!

Suffice it to say, I always get a giggle fit when I see the trucks.
