Here’s one for those of us who are geeky enough to find business history interesting: AT&T Corp., Eastman Kodak Co. and International Paper Co. will be dropped from the Dow Jones Industrial Average, Bloomberg says, citing a TV inverview with a Dow Jones official.
Kodak has been in the Dow since 1930 and International Paper since 1956. AT&T traded in an earlier Dow average from 1916 until the 30-stock measure we’re familiar was started in 1928 and joined that version in 1939.
The new members are American International Group Inc., Pfizer Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc. The changes take effect April 8.
