Atheists use 'unholy' water to unbless Florida highway

Don’t these people have something better to do?
This goes along with the endless lawsits against cities and towns that dae to put up Christmas trees.

Bless you.

I know what you mean-blessing a stretch of road seems like a silly way to bring attention to your religion, doesn’t it?

Unblessing it is just as stupid if not stupider. If you want to fight their harmless stupidity with more stupidity, that’s your right, but I’m mostly a live and let live kinda guy when it comes to religion. I pick and choose my battles and only get mad when start oppressing women, spreading their intelligent design bullshit, etc. Unblessing roads is at the bottom of my to-do list.

Mocking religious stupidity is a step in the right direction if it shows the public that they are allowed to call out and laugh at silliness even if it is dressed up in the garb of the Righteous.

Didn’t work on me. Simply told me atheists are assholes who enjoy nastily mocking others, and tempted me to return to religion.

The clue: if you’re mocking someone, you’re being an asshole.

This isn’t reasoned debate (the very thing they insist the religious folk avoid), it’s bullying.

That is intolerant. The kind of thing atheists complain about all the time.

Unless I read something wrong, it wasn’t much of a public display by the Christians. That is, I was under the impression that when the road was paved some Christians did their, “Please O Lord, in your blessed favoring of the tarmac with holy yellow line-age, and yay, though I walk through the valley of the Cannanites …” or whatever the fuck they chant. And that was it.

I don’t know … to come around after the fact and say, as an atheist, “nuh-uh,” seems a bit ridiculous to me

What the hell’s the point? Now if there are billboards all over the place stating, “This route has been sanctified by the Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration, Praise be to Jesus,” then, sure … unbless for a cause.

Why are they blessing a road? It’s not like another road is going to slam into it, causing grievous harm. I see no concrete benefit to this.

The road to Hell is paved with… oh nevermind

So then to make it unholy again I presume you would boil the Christ out of it.

Not sure I agree with them entirely, but when people are getting arrested over what looks like fairly trumped up issues, it does raise freedom of speech issues and the like.

And I kind of see the ‘non-Christians stay out’ aspect, but it feels a bit stretchy to me without more supporting evidence.

Otara

Why not? He’s obviously the best qualified.

You piss in it.

I have an idea for their next stunt. They should get some buckets of “unholy water” (probably best to just use water, and not “bless” it with piss) and sprinkle it on people to “unbaptize” them. After all, neither ritual does anything besides get people wet, right?

On second thought, put me in the “not helping” camp.

Sit in it *

  • This is based on: “I’m not gargling after she sticks her ass it in”

I hope they put up signs that said “Slick road”, at least.

It could be worse. It could be like those dicks who like to go to libraries and reshelve the Bible in the fiction section.

The point is to piss people off. This makes them trolls. We get mad at PETA when they troll. Why is it when you support the cause that it suddenly becomes okay and funny?

They are trolls, and, as such, have just proven the Christians right that atheists are horrible people. Congratulations: you just confirmed their prejudices.

I just don’t understand the mindset of people who turn atheism into a religion.

Some people need to get a life.

As far as I am concerned you can bless me, unbless me, and do the hokey pokey and turn yourself about. It doesn’t matter to me either way.

Well, for my money you can’t have too much of this sort of thing. I giggle just thinking of the guy carrying the mop. All I ever unbless is the toilet…
