athelas is a habitual plagiarizing git

If it’s true, and I can’t see how it’s not true, it should be an insta-ban.

Huh?

Ok, help me out here guys. I’m still relatively new here and still trying to figure this “troll” thing out. On one hand, entities like “Commissar”, those that just purposely ruin threads and have no intention of engaging in fair discourse get that label; and then someone like the guy here is called a “troll” and I just get confused all over again.

I’m confused too. I don’t see how “troll” fits here.

The pit is the only place where you can call someone a troll (for whatever reason). Until there’s further clarification I’m just assuming that I acted in a way to piss John Mace off at some point and he’s making full use of me opening up a pit thread.

I think it might have just been the choice of words in the OP, e.g. “opened the thread to taunt him a bit” instead of, maybe, “opened the thread to call him on his apparent plagiarism”.

Or maybe it was just a potshot of opportunity. To close to call.

Steve Sailer and Steven Bainbridge almost certainly aren’t the same person, so I think we can rule out athelas being the same person as the original bloggers. He’s clearly a serial plagiarist.

(and yea, I don’t get the troll accusation either)

While I suppose it’s possible that he’s the author of each of those blogs, yikes. It does look like plagiarism occurred. If that’s the case, athelas, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Guys, it’s not that clever. And it’s not funny after the first time or two.

Reported.

Guys, it’s not that clever. And it’s not funny after the second or third time.

Guys, its n0t thaet funny. And its nut cleaver after the third or forth time.

Well, I’m glad that I discovered this situation and brought it to light.

I really can’t see any reason why he shouldn’t be banned.

I thought athelas was a healing herb from Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.

Actually, it’s from Terry Brooks.

Hmmmm, The Fellowship of the Ring was released in 1954, when Terry Brooks was 10-years-old.

I think Alessan may have simply misremembered where he read the name, not suggested that Tolkien got it from Brooks. But of course you are correct, it is Tolkien’s.

Whoosh.
