Attack of the AOL robots!!

Recently, I had some billing problems with AOL (Hey! stop that booing and hissing). I decided to try one of their “online consultants”. I discussed the problem with the “consultant” and seemed to have solved the problem. However, I needed to resolve something else and went online again. This time, the “consultant” seemed to alternate between normal person and total blockhead.

Then it hit me. I was talking to a software-generated “person”!

I figured this out when I would rephrase a question and, each time, get a different reply. A real person couldn’t possibly be that stupid!

I e-mailed AOL to resolve the matter and got what appeared to be a computer generated response! Most of the grammar could have been written by the “All your base…” people.

I finally broke down and called. I got a human this time. I not only got the billing problem resolved, but they ended up “giving” me two free months. I joked about the “robot” consultants and he just laughed. Laughed, but didn’t acknowledge me.

Am I off my rocker or can someone verify this?

HELLO, THIS IS MARY. I AM A HUMAN WITH SOFT SKIN.

it’s a bot, like the ones used in IRC.
