Attempted hair control through wax

How much wax does it produce…oh. Nevermind.

It does hurt, but not much and not for long. At least that’s been my experience. Last time, for the first time, I got a full leg not just a half, and the skin on the back of my thighs is really, really sensitive. No harm done, though, it just hurt like heck for a few minutes. The thing is that while waxing does hurt, after each yank it’s only for a couple of seconds or so. It’s not constant.

I guess I got lucky in the not so much growing back department. The woman who does my legs wishes she had before and after pictures of me to show off to prospective clients.

Yeah, it hurts, but it’s a very momentary pain. The issue with having a large area done, like your legs, is that it’s a momentary pain that is repeated over and over and over again. Rip! Ouch! Rip! Ouch! Rip! Ouch! etc. etc. I mean, IME, they’re only doing an area about the size of a deck of cards at one time. So count up how many cards it would take to cover your lower legs and do the math. The best you can hope for is a good aesthetician who will just slap the wax on, rub the cloth over, and rip the cloth off, quick quick quick, with good crisp pulls and no pausing before they pull. (I hate it when they pause before ripping it off, giving you that moment of exquisite anticipation of pain.) But it shouldn’t hurt the next day. Just remember that your skin is traumatized and very sensitive, and don’t put anything on them that might cause a reaction. I don’t even put moisturizer on my legs the morning after a wax, because it stings.

But it does hurt a considerable amount when it’s being done. It’s worth it to me to not have to deal with shaving for six weeks or so.

I always enjoy when that thread gets brought back up. Swells my chest with pride, it does.

This past weekend I 'Nair’ed myself. Chemical burn on the buttocks. My husband (the guy that was the boyfriend in the first thread) begged me to go au natural before I did permanent damage.

I have the exact opposite experience. Waxing (well sugaring) my legs is an exercise in futility and pain. No hair comes off, but it hurts.
Armpits is no big deal - throw on some cornstarch, spread the sugaring stuff, and rip. Far less painful than legs - and the hair actually gets removed.
